Global Procurement Specialist
Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, an international law firm, seeks a skilled Procurement Specialist to join its global team based out of the Brussels office with responsibilities spanning across all offices of the firm globally.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting procurement related activities ensuring the firm receives the required goods and services at the optimal combination of cost, quality, and delivery performance from a select supplier base. They will also negotiate contracts with key suppliers to strategically manage vendor performance, including data privacy compliance and risk minimization. The team seeks an experienced professional with the \ability to work both independently and collaboratively to advance the goals of the department and meet the needs of the firm globally.
Job Duties
- Initiate and lead sourcing efforts, through Request-for-Proposal (RFP), Request-for-Quotation (RFQ), or direct negotiation, to source products and services and develop a stable supply chain options for a range of commodities.
- Negotiate agreements with suppliers to achieve the optimal combination of service, cost, quality, performance, and risk mitigation.
- Identify contractual risk, and develop and negotiate alternative terms to mitigate these risks.
- Conduct competitive bids by collaborating with subject matter experts to develop specifications and key business requirements/standards, and drafting the efficient RFx documentation.
- Perform effective new supplier on-boarding and financial vetting process, including protection of confidential information, to ensure appropriate vendor compliance prior to engagement.
- Act as primary procurement contact for EME offices
- Collaborate and liaise with Legal and Risk teams as needed for contract review, risk review, and policy discussion.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree required. Recognized certification such as from the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) in Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or other professional procurement organization is an advantage.
- 5 or more years of procurement experience. Existing knowledge of the range of commodity and service procurement categories, including facilities, professional services, and/or technology services procurement.
- Solid business judgment, including the ability to anticipate impact of decisions and initiatives.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Effective and efficient communication skills with the ability to build relationships internally and externally.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively as an effective team member.
